SUMMARY:Music from Amadeus
DESCRIPTION:Salieri Sinfonia Veneziana\nMozart Concerto for Flute and Harp in C major\, K. 299\nMozart Symphony No. 25 in G minor\, K. 183 \nAnthony Robb flute\nSally Pryce harp\nMarios Papadopoulos conductor \nMiloš Forman’s 1984 movie Amadeus is a masterpiece from beginning to end\, telling of the ambition\, obsession and jealousy that nearly thwarted the career of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and of the sublime music that poured out of a genius whose foibles and vulgarity were all too human. Mozart’s volatile Symphony No. 25 pays homage to the ‘father of the symphony’ himself\, Joseph Haydn\, who is represented by his more doleful Symphony No. 44 in the Sheldonian Theatre\, as well as his frolicking Cello Concerto No. 1 featuring soloist Oliver Simpson – winner of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2022 Oxfordshire Senior Concerto Competition.
