The Lord Mayor of Oxford, Councillor Mohammed Abbasi, presented the City’s Special Certificate of Honour to Marios Papadopoulos, Music Director of Oxford Philomusica, at a short ceremony at the start of the Orchestra’s Youth Concerto Competition Final in the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday 20 April.
This special award, given for an exceptional contribution to the life of the City of Oxford, is ‘in recognition of the contribution made by Oxford Philomusica to musical performance and education in the City from 1999 to 2013’.
The Lord Mayor said, ‘I am delighted to be presenting this Special Certificate of Honour. Together, Marios and Oxford Philomusica have made a fantastic contribution to the City through musical performance and education. Thousands of people have watched and listened to their musical performances over the past 15 years, and I hope they continue for many years to come.’
